The FX-Audio DAC-X3PRO is a particularly compact and affordable DAC and headphone amplifier combo. However, it offers good audio performance, using an ESS ES9023 DAC chip for its digital/analog conversion stage. The reception of digital SPDIF signals is entrusted to a CS8416 receiver. The combination of these components allows a clean and accurate reproduction.
The DAC-X3PRO has USB-B as its input, supporting files up to 24bit 96kHz PCM, as well as Optical and Coaxial, accepting sample rates up to 24bit 192kHz PCM. The output is on a stereo RCA and an amplified 3.5mm jack headphone output. A volume control allows to adjust the sound level of the latter. All the components are integrated in a sturdy brushed aluminium case.
